Senior Herald staffer in move to Times

THE senior assistant editor at The Herald – number three at the paper – is departing for the soon-to-launch revamped Scottish edition of The Times.

Melanie Reid is leaving to become a writer in Scotland for the paper, though it’s not known when, exactly, she’ll be leaving. She’s been with The Herald for six years.

Meanwhile, rumour has it that The Herald’s chief sportswriter, Graham Spiers – currently on his honeymoon – is also target for The Times.

One person definitely moving from The Herald is its Scottish political correspondent, Tom Gordon, who is to become Scottish political editor at the Sunday Times Scotland, to succeed Jason Allardyce who is now the paper’s associate editor.
