New chair for NUJ branch

THE Edinburgh and District branch has elected Liam Rodger – who works at publishers, Chambers Harrap – to be its new chair.

It follows the branch annual general meeting, which also appointed a new vice-chair – Martin Allen, assistant sports editor at Scotland on Sunday – and a new equality officer, Kevin Schofield, who is education correspondent at The Scotsman.

The secretary remains Pat Herd; the treasurer, Brian Horne; and the welfare officer, Ann Davies.

Meanwhile, on Monday evening, at the AGM of the Edinburgh Freelance branch of the union, theatre critic, Mark Fisher, was re-elected chair and secretary.

Fellow theatre critic, and also columnist, Joyce McMillan, held on to the post of treasurer.

Membership went to Andy Moore, while Kay Smith will look after training and Jan Fairlie, welfare.
