Scottish entries just miss out

SCOTTISH entries were pipped at the post at an UK-wide financial press awards ceremony.

Despite making up 60 per cent of the shortlist in the regional category of British Insurance Brokers’ Association Awards, they came away with only a highly commended prize.

In the 25th year of the awards, and with a record number of entries, Eric Galbraith, chief executive of BIBA, said: “This year’s shortlisted journalists represent the strongest group that we have ever had the pleasure to work with.”

Among the five entries on the regional shortlist were Lindsay Rogerson, of Scotland on Sunday; freelance, Francis Shennan, for his work in The Herald, and Shennan again for a jointly by-lined story with Herald personal finance editor, Simon Bain.

Rogerson took the highly commended award, but the first prize – handed out at a ceremony in London – went to Conal Gregory of the Yorkshire Post.
