One-in-five ‘quality readership’ claim by Mail on Sunday

THE Mail on Sunday yesterday claimed that more than one Sunday quality newspaper reader in every five is now choosing to read the paper.

The newspaper said that new figures from the National Readership Survey, issued at the weekend, revealed that, in the period from July to December last year, its readership was estimated at 5,996,000. That represented an increase in market share from 19.1 per cent the previous year to 20.3 per cent.

“This compares with dramatic falls in readership for our rivals in the quality market”, said a spokesperson.
