Daily Record earns British Press Awards nomination

THE Daily Record has been shortlisted in this year’s British Press Awards.

It has earned a nomination for the Cudlipp Award, which ‘recognises excellence in popular journalism’.

The paper is joined among the nominations by Scot, Ally Ross, who is a contender for ‘Critic of the year’.

The shortlisted entrants were decided by 100 judges, drawn from national and regional newspapers, plus independent figures from the world of journalism.

Leading the nominations is The Guardian, with 14.

In the ‘battle of the red-tops’, The Sun leads the Daily Mirror by nine nominations to six.

The winners will be announced at an awards dinner on the eighth of next month, at the Grosvenor House in London, presented by Channel 4 News anchor, Jon Snow.

Finalists in the ‘Newspaper of the year’ and ‘Journalist of the year’ categories are to be announced next week.
