Free business daily for Edinburgh?

THE free weekly Scottish business newspaper launched last year by the publishers of the Daily Record could face competition from a daily rival, from spring.

The publishers of City AM – which currently is given away for free in London – are reported to be be gearing up for Manchester and Edinburgh editions, each offering local editorial.

Last year, Trinity Mirror launched Business7, which is distributed on a Friday and has just celebrated its first birthday. Some 80,000 copies of City AM are printed, that figure expected to rise to 97,000 should the two new cities be added to the roster.

Business7’s print run is 20,000.
