Scots Spoof Pokes Fun at Go Compare Ads

The singer behind the Go Compare television adverts might be releasing a Christmas single to raise funds for charity but it hasn't stopped plans by a Scots record company launching a rival song that pokes fun at the ads.

East Kilbride-based When in Rome Records is releasing on Monday a song that replaces 'Go Compare' with 'Go to Hell', to coincide with the release of a single by the Go Compare singer, 'Gio Compario –  aka real-life opera star, Wynne Evans – to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Evans' single is a version of 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'.

Meanwhile, the rival – by Glasgow chip shop owner, Luigi Corvi –  uses the same musical accompaniment as that in the Go Compare adverts, but with mocking lyrics, including: 'Those bloody ads, they drive me mad/ Maybe I’m harsh, but that moustache – gets me as well/ He’s so annoying – I’ll be destroying/ My TV set – if he doesn’t go to hell.”
