Advertising body appointment for Wood

IN the immediate wake of moving jobs, Claire Wood has also been made deputy chair of the Scottish division of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising.

Three weeks ago, she moved to Edinburgh-based Newhaven Communications, from RAPP Edinburgh, where she was head of planning.

Says a media release issued by the IPA, she will work towards the chair’s agenda “to increase the skills, connections and clout of the Scottish advertising industry by focusing on engagement and collaboration, in addition to tailoring and adapting IPA initiatives and strategies to be specifically relevant to the industry north of the border”.

The chair is Murray Calder, a director at MediaCom.

The statement quotes her as saying: “Having lived in Scotland and worked for Scottish creative agencies for 16 years, I’m hugely proud of the imagination, innovation and impact of our work. I’m looking forward to helping Murray raise the profile of the creative industries both in Scotland and further afield.”

Calder is also quoted, as saying: “I’m really pleased that Claire has agreed to take on the role of deputy chairman. She’s already made a big impact on the events programme in Scotland and I’m certain her boundless enthusiasm for the Scottish ad industry will help move the IPA agenda forwards.”
