Conference to consider possible nationalist impact on TV

THE possible impact of a nationalist government on television broadcasting in Scotland is expected to be the main debating point at a conference being held in Edinburgh today.

Quite how the result of the Scottish Parliament elections will result on content appearing on Scottish TV screens will be exercising the minds of, among others, Ian Small, head of public policy, at BBC Scotland, and Bobby Hain, stv managing director.

The event – being hosted by the Scottish branch of the Voice of the Listener & Viewer, in association with Napier University and the Saltire Society – will be also attended by Donald Campbell, chief executive, Gaelic Media Service; Vicki Nash, director, Ofcom Scotland; Robert Beveridge, Napier University; Alistair Moffat, Saltire Society; Paul Scott, Saltire Society; and Alan Riach, Glasgow University.
