Petition calls for broadcaster’s dismissal

THE fall-out continues over a ‘robust’ interview by Newsnight presenter, Kirsty Wark, earlier this month with First Minister, Alex Salmond.

While an apology has been issued to Salmond over his being cut-off while answering the last question, it has not entirely dampened the furore: Wark is now the subject of an ePetition calling for her dismissal.

Over 200 people have added their name to the following: “We, the undersigned, call upon the BBC to recognise Kirsty Wark’s evident pro-Labour bias, and non-professional associations with the Labour Party and Jack McConnell.

“We demand that she is removed from any political programming, current affairs, or news reading, especially any dealing with Scotland. We believe that she has crossed the bounds of journalistic impartiality, letting her personal political opinions cloud her judgement, and that this came to the fore during her recent confrontation with Alex Salmond on Newsnight.”
