Thomson takes TV journalism title

BETTER late than never, but news from over the Christmas and New Year break had a former Radio Forth journalist picking up one of Australia’s top journalism awards.

Brian Thomson took the the Television News Reporting category at the 52nd Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism. It was for a series of reports on East Timor.

Thomson works for World News Australia. Spike understands that, at Forth, he started off as a news reporter.

He then went on to Sky Television, where he became Scotland correspondent, to be succeeded, when he left, by Jim Matthews.
