Channel 4 on hunt for new talent

CHANNEL 4 is looking for material from young people, aged under 30, as part of a scheme recognising filmmaking, radio presenting, writing and various media other skills.

Says 4Talent’s website: “Part of [our] purpose is to act as talent spotters – not for toothy wannabes in a saccharine-sweet variety show way, but for the people who’ll be providing Channel 4, E4, More4, Film4, 4Radio and channel4.com with original, challenging, ground-breaking, risk-taking, intelligent and entertaining content in the future.”

It continues: “But we’re also serving the wider industry: the independent companies that help British creative media lead the world, and without whom Channel 4 couldn’t exist. Across 20 categories the 4Talent Awards tip exciting individuals with the potential to make a difference, as judged both by commissioners and the producers who supply them.”

The categories are short documentary, long documentary, dramatic writing, dramatic performance, directing, comedy writing, comedy performance, presenting, on-air radio, off-air radio, music, production music, music video, innovation, multi-platform, animation, journalism, photography, multi-talented and wild card.

The deadline for entries is August 29.
