Name change plan at SMG

THE owners of stv have proposed a name change that, they say, more accuraely reflects what the company is now doing.

The plan is to replace ‘SMG plc’ with ‘stv Group plc’.

It follows the sale of its outdoor advertising arm, Primesight, and the expected sale – to be completed at the end of the month – of its radio division, Virgin Radio.

Says Rob Woodward, chief executive: “The new name we propose, stv Group, reflects the company’s focus and uniqueness in the Scottish media market.”
