Russell backs Scottish Digital Network plan

A RECOMMENDATION to set up a digital TV channel dedicated to Scottish programming has received strong support from the new culture minister at the Scottish Parliament, Michael Russell.

In a speech yesterday, he backed the recommendation for a Scottish Digital Network – made by the Scottish Broadcasting Commission, which published its conclusions in September last year – saying that “a Scottish network will ensure diverse high quality public service broadcasting for the people of Scotland”.

His remarks follow the unveiling yesterday by Scottish Enterprise of a “new economic development strategy for Scotland’s broadcast and TV production sector”.
