Pat Kane Joins The Caledonian Mercury

The well-known musician, writer and commentator, Pat Kane, is joining the online Scottish news website, The Caledonian Mercury, as a columnist.

A former rector of Glasgow University, Kane is one half of the 'pop' duo, Hue and Cry, and a founding editor of the Sunday Herald newspaper.

Says Stewart Kirkpatrick, editor of The Caledonian Mercury and allmediascotland.com blogger: “Pat's a huge name and the Caley Merc team are delighted he has agreed to write for us. His incision and depth will be enormous strengths for the paper.”

Added Kane: “In a week where two giant voices in Scottish culture have been silenced [Jimmy Reid and Edwin Morgan], it seems appropriate to scramble up on onto their shoulders and get back into the fray about the future of this country. I'm looking forward to engaging with the CalMerc readership, in an exciting time for this nation.”
