Multi-media milestone looming for news agency

A NEWS agency that is fully embracing the internet and video production is set to celebrate its three millionth visitor to its trio of websites – since March.

An average 82,000 visits are made in total each day to Deadline Press and Picture Agency’s WordPress, Flickr and YouTube ‘platforms’.

The agency specialises in providing words, photographs and video from across Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians to Scotland’s major newspapers and their websites, and beyond.

The agency – which celebrates its tenth anniversary in the New Year – also boasts a popular Twitter account, has recently opened a new channel via the ‘simple’ blogging service, Posterous, and is actively researching options for bringing all the content together under a single banner site next year.

Last month, it launched a daily newspaper review, as a podcast – which may be soon appearing on allmediascotland.com

Says consulting managing editor, Shaun Milne: “Since March, Deadline has managed to more than double its engagement with its online community by adopting a more focussed and consistent approach to its web strategy.

“This good work will continue into the New Year.

“In particular we hope to offer more opportunity for our growing client base in the US, Australia and mainland Europe to benefit from the high quality work which is being produced by our team of journalists.

“They are not only delivering excellent content, but are among the first working in a live newsroom to be increasing their multi-media skill-sets on a day-to-day basis.”

Today is also the first day for the agency’s latest recruit: Andrea McCallum, who has moved to Deadline as a news reporter from the East Lothian Courier.

It is the agency’s second signing in as many weeks following the appointment of former Splash paparazzi, Katielee Arrowsmith, as senior photographer.
