Deadline looming for digital funding scheme

LESS than a week remains for applicants to a funding scheme aimed at newly-begun businesses specialising in ‘digital interactivity’.

With grants of £25,000 available to start-up and young companies throughout the UK, the scheme – operated by Abertay University, Dundee – has a deadline of Wednesday.

The Prototype Fund has been going for two years, says Abertay. “Since it was launched, the Prototype Fund has received more than 250 applications, from which over 40 start-ups and SMEs have been awarded funding. One company went on to secure an £800,000 investment after initial funding of just £25,000. That business is currently preparing for launch behind closed doors.”

In an Abertay media release, project manager, Kirsty Gibson, is quoted, as saying: “This is an excellent, risk-free way of new and young companies raising enough money to build a small game or prototype.”

Working space, access to kit and interns, plus mentoring are also part of the Fund’s offering.
