Images app allows relaunched Sun motoring supplement to ‘come alive’

READERS of a newspaper motoring supplement can now also watch a moving images version of it, via a free app on their smartphone or iPad.

The new, service has been launched by The Scottish Sun to coincide with the relaunch of its motors section, from a Wednesday to a Friday.

How to download the app – using so-called ‘Aurasma’ technology – is explained on page two of today’s supplement.

The Aurasma app is free to download and, to open up the moving images and commentary, it’s simply a question of holding one’s smartphone or iPad over a page of the supplement that contains the ‘A for Aurasma’ symbol.

At which point, the page ‘comes alive’.

In a media statement, The Scottish Sun marketing manager, Carol Wyper, is quoted as saying: “Not only are we giving our readers new and engaging content, we are offering advertisers an outstanding opportunity to showcase their products.”

The statement adds: “Sun motors editor, Phil Lanning, worked closely with creative partners, reflexblue, alongside Reality Media, to produce a range of exclusive content, including an in-depth look at the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake.”
