Record and Mirror launch e-editions as iPad apps

E-EDITIONS of the Daily Record and Daily Mirror newspapers have been launched, as apps for the iPad.

Say publishers, Trinity Mirror, the e-editions are “digital reproductions of the two newspapers but also include an array of impressive features such as video, expandable articles, interactive ads, 30 day archive, automatic overnight downloads (via Newsstand) and a live news ticker”.

For UK users the apps are free, but available only Monday to Friday – the belief being that the Saturday editions of the papers – along with their sister Sunday titles – are still best enjoyed in print form. However, seven-days-a-week apps are available, for purchase, to international users.

The Record app can be downloaded, here.

In a statement issued by Trinity Mirror, Allan Rennie, editor-in-chief of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspapers, is quoted, as saying: “The e-edition brings a different vibrancy to our paper which allows us to showcase our leading Scottish news, sport and entertainment in exciting new ways.”
