IT gets you out of bed in the morning and pays the bills, but are you looking for much more from your job?

Mary’s Meals UK and Ireland is part of a fast-growing global movement that is currently providing 1,035,637 hungry and impoverished children in 12 countries with a daily school meal.

We are looking for a head of communications for an one year, fixed-term contract to lead the UK and Ireland communications team, to develop new supporters, develop relationships with existing supporters, and to reinforce the values of the organisation.

You will be responsible for managing the communications team, which may also include volunteers.

Reporting to the executive director (UK and Ireland), you will be comfortable working at a senior level to achieve success, and be experienced at managing relationships at all levels.

You will be responsible for the development and implementation of Mary’s Meals’ communications and media strategy in the UK and Ireland, aligned to the global strategy, and ensuring all delivery of activity has the necessary checks in place to protect the good name and values of Mary’s Meals.

This role also involves managing the Mary’s Meals brand and key messages, project managing and implementing media campaigns in close collaboration with the global communications team, developing and implementing engaging communication activities with existing supporters, and identifying creative ways to reach out to new audiences.

You don’t need experience of working for a charity but what you do need is a creative and strategic mind to develop new ideas and opportunities for Mary’s Meals.

The successful candidate will come from a PR / communications background, have excellent press outreach and be able to deliver compelling content.

You will have excellent people management experience and be an inspirational leader. Journalism experience would be an advantage.
Significant experience working within a senior PR/communication role is essential.

Proven and demonstrable experience of managing teams, developing and delivering effective communication strategies, devising and implementing media campaigns, proven experience of editing and producing publications are also key.
If you have a passion for telling the Mary’s Meals story and believe you have the relevant experience and skills to make a difference to the lives of thousands of children across the world, we’d love to hear from you.

By contributing to the work of Mary’s Meals, you will become part of a worldwide movement of people who will not accept that any child in this world of plenty should endure a day without a meal.
