Media Job: Scottish political reporter, The Courier

CLOSING DATE: August 28, 2015

Scottish political reporter

Dundee

Ref: VAC121

THE Courier, one of the biggest regional daily papers in the UK, is seeking a Scottish political reporter.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get right to the heart of the action in these extraordinary political times. You will have a front row seat as one of the most dramatic periods in Scottish political history unfolds.

With an election coming next year, there has never been a better time to join the fray on the frontline of Scottish politics.

Based in Edinburgh and Dundee, you will report for The Courier and our sister publications on the day-to-day action at the Scottish Parliament as well as concentrating on the issues and concerns of our readers in east central Scotland.

The Courier produces four editions a day covering Perth and Perthshire, Fife, Angus and Dundee as well as a thriving website and social media platforms which require regular updating with breaking news.

It is vital that our daily political coverage is relevant to those communities and that you are digging up great exclusives. To do this will require you to build an extensive contacts list among politicians, civil servants and Scotland’s major public bodies.

You will also be expected to turn your hand to colour writing and analysis on a regular basis.

You must have extensive journalistic experience in political news coverage and be able to display a good working knowledge of your specialist subject, both nationally and locally.

This is your chance to work in a rewarding environment where benefits include a competitive salary, medical benefits, company pension scheme and a generous holiday allowance. DC Thomson is committed to a policy of equal opportunities for all staff.
