Media Job: Digital and print journalist, The Courier

CLOSING DATE: February 5, 2016

Dundee

Ref: VAC178

THE Courier is looking for a digital and print reporter to join its top team of journalists.

Dundee is an exciting place to be right now. £1 billion is being invested in the waterfront area. A huge V&A museum will make for a spectacular centrepiece.

The city has a buzzing cultural quarter and busy night-time economy. There is also a lively council — and equally lively sheriff court.

All of which makes it a great place to be a newspaper reporter — not least if that newspaper boasts an increased readership of 14 per cent, year on year.

The Courier is read by more than 150,000 people every day and produces a website which attracts almost one million people a month.

Now we need a reporter to help us ensure our customers get the best stories, the finest analysis and the most up-to-date news for their area.

Working as part of a close-knit team and taking direction from the newsdesk, you will work accurately and creatively to tight deadlines.

We don’t want you to be chained to your desk, so — armed with your state-of-the-art smartphone — you will be out and about bringing your stories to life.

You will also be self-motivated and driven to source exclusive stories of a high standard.

You will also be expected to use social media to promote our content and source stories.

Key requirements are:

  • a full driving licence;
  • up-to-date knowledge of newspaper law and IPSO regulations; and
  • outstanding written English and communication skills.

Attention to detail and the ability to work to strict deadlines are also essential.
