INSP is recruiting for an exciting opportunity in our editorial and communications department. See your work in street papers worldwide, and be part of the INSP News Service, INSP Awards, Global Street Paper Summit & #VendorWeek!

INSP’s editorial and communications assistant will work with our editorial and communications manager to deliver the INSP News Service and the overall communications strategy of INSP. They will also be involved in the delivery of INSP’s other main projects, alongside INSP’s small staff team.

The INSP News Service is an unique news wire that connects street papers around the world. It provides editorial support to street papers – to build their capacity and increase their sales – so that tens of thousands of homeless vendors can earn a living and improve their lives.

INSP’s communications strategy is based around sourcing and sharing street paper success stories, in order to strengthen the network and publicise the work of our member street papers to the public.

This is a challenging and varied opportunity for a qualified journalist with excellent editing skills, a good grasp of social media and a keen interest in social justice. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team-player, with a good understanding of how their work fits into the broader mission of INSP.

Terms of employment

Salary: £18,000 per annum (and up to five per cent matched contribution to pension)

Location: INSP office, central Glasgow

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week. INSP operates a flexitime policy (subject to project and organisational needs) with core hours of 10am – 4pm.

Contract period: One year, with a view to extending subject to organisational strategy and funding.
