Media Job: Digital and print reporter, The Courier

CLOSING DATE: August 26, 2016

Digital and print reporter

Perth

Ref: VAC278

THE UK’s best regional newspaper — The Courier — is seeking a reporter for its busy Perth office.

Perth is a buzzing new city with big plans for the future.

There is a lively council — and equally lively sheriff court. It also boasts an impressive cultural scene, with its £10 million concert hall and revamped High Street theatre. All of which makes it a great place to be a newspaper reporter — not least if that newspaper boasts an increased readership of 14 per cent, year-on-year.

The Courier is read by more than 150,000 people every day and produces a website which attracts almost one million people a month.

It is also the UK’s best regional newspaper — and that’s official (UK Press Awards).

Now, we need a senior reporter to help us ensure our customers get the best stories, the finest analysis and the most up-to-date news for their area.

Working as part of a close-knit team and taking direction from the chief reporter and newsdesk, you will work accurately and creatively to tight deadlines. We don’t want you to be chained to your desk, so — armed with all the latest kit — you will be out and about bringing your stories to life.

You will also be self-motivated and driven to source exclusive stories of a high standard. You will also be expected to use social media to promote our content and source stories.

Key requirements are:

* A full driving licence;

* Up-to-date knowledge of IPSO regulations;

* Outstanding written English and communication skills; and

* Attention to detail and the ability to work to strict deadlines.

Please note that you should submit a CV, cover letter and an article you have produced when applying for this position as part of your application.
