Deputy news editor 

This is a golden opportunity to be in the thick of the action at the award-winning Press and Journal.

Based in Aberdeen, you will be reporting to the news editor at the cutting-edge of our newsgathering operation across four distinct local editions serving specific communities – from the Highlands and Islands to Aberdeen.

This is a key role as it not only involves helping to lead our team of reporters and the news desk operation, but also deputising for the news editor when required.

As deputy news editor, you will have a cool head when the pressure is on and be able to prove you can multi-task, and handle news copy with legal safety in mind.

A sharp news sense, with the ability to spot important local news stories and  enhance story quality, and awareness of the wider news agenda across Scotland are vital. Previous relevant newsroom experience is essential for this senior position.
