Media job: Deputy news editor, The Courier

CLOSING DATE: November 2, 2018

THE Courier is looking for a deputy news editor to join its team based in Dundee.

Dundee is an exciting place to be right now. £1 billion is being invested in the waterfront area. The huge V&A museum makes for a spectacular centrepiece. The city has a buzzing cultural quarter and busy night-time economy.

There is also a lively council — and equally lively sheriff court. All of which makes it a great place to work for a newspaper — not least if that newspaper boasts an increased readership of 14 per cent, year-on-year.

The Courier is read by more than 150,000 people every day and produces a website which attracts almost one million people a month.

Now we need a deputy news editor to help us ensure our customers get the best stories, the finest analysis and the most up-to-date news for their area.

Working as part of a close-knit team, you will work accurately and creatively to tight deadlines. We want to bring stories to life and you should also be able to demonstrate an ability to source and write excellent concise and engaging material.

To apply for this role, please follow our online application process and submit a CV and cover letter.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 35 hours per week from our Dundee office. We offer a generous package including 34 days holiday, health cash plan, gym discount, excellent pension, a competitive salary, and many more staff discounts and benefits.
