CLOSING DATE: June 19, 2019

Deputy news editor

Dundee, Meadowside

VAC712

THE Evening Telegraph – one of the UK’s most successful evening titles – is on the lookout for a new deputy news editor.

Possessing an excellent news sense, you will need to have significant experience in modern newsrooms.

With a strong background in news gathering and reporting, you should ideally have newsdesk experience.

You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to spot a story – and know how to get it over the line, often while under significant pressure.

No stranger to tight deadlines, you will also need to prove you have the ability to lead a diverse team, making decisions quickly and leading by example.

A sound legal knowledge is essential, as is the ability to respect and work within IPSO guidelines.

You will have superb communication skills and be no stranger to hard work.

In return for your commitment and enthusiasm, you will be rewarded with a fantastic working atmosphere, with great colleagues and a brilliant team spirit.

Dundee is an exciting place to be right now – the £1 billion revamp of the central waterfront area, featuring the V&A museum, has put the city on the map.

It is a bustling, modern city. A busy council and lively sheriff court are among the sources of the countless stories you will help to find, nurture and present to our audience, both online and in print.
