Media job: Part-time magazine editorial role for experienced journalist

CLOSING DATE: February 26, 2021

Introduction

Quantum Communications is one of the fastest-growing agencies in Scotland. A client is seeking an experienced journalist for a part-time role producing content for a new magazine covering public life in Scotland.

Published regularly, the magazine will be primarily digital, and contain insightful articles, interviews and breaking news stories.

Who are we looking for?

Our client would like to hire someone with significant experience working as a journalist in Scotland, who has a track record of unearthing and writing news stories and analysis pieces.

Strong writing skills are essential for this role, as is a clear understanding of how Scotland’s civic and political landscape operates.

The successful applicant will ideally have worked for or contributed regularly to a national newspaper or magazine, and have experience of working in the digital media landscape.

An appreciation for accuracy and short, sharp writing is essential, while other journalistic skills such as developing relationships with sources and interpreting complex documents are also necessary.

The role

More details of the role will be revealed through the application process, but the successful applicant will be directly employed by one of Scotland’s leading membership bodies on a competitive salary, with attractive and secure terms, a workplace pension, and additional benefits.

The publication itself has yet to launch, but will be an influential and prominent fixture in Scotland’s emerging digital media, while adhering to tried-and-tested journalistic values.

The job is part-time with flexible hours which should suit experienced journalists looking to re-enter the trade, freelancers looking for secure employment, or those seeking to change their working practices.

The role will involve producing regular copy, developing your own ideas, and reporting to an editorial team.

To apply

To apply send a CV and covering letter, with examples of published articles, to mail@quantumcommunications.co.uk.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday, February 26.
