Communications officer – Better Together

CLOSING DATE: March 15, 2013

Communications Officer – Contract to December 2014 – Salary based on experience – Located at Campaign HQ, Glasgow

The referendum on Scotland’s future is the biggest campaign in the history of our country. With just under two years to go until we go to the polls, Better Together is looking for a confident, energetic and talented communications officer to join the team at our headquarters in Glasgow. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be directly involved in the most important decision we will ever take as a country.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in communications in a high-profile role.

You will be a talented writer. You will have written speeches, drafted op-eds and articles and produced high quality, well-researched media releases.

This post will have specific responsibility for working with Scotland’s local, regional and national media.

You must have the ability to work to extremely demanding deadlines and will have a strong interest in – and an understanding of – politics in Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom.

Every single one of us on the team, no matter our role, are campaigners, so having experience of working on a campaign of any description is a definite advantage.

You will, of course, believe passionately that Scotland can have the best of both worlds.

You will support Scotland having a strong Scottish Parliament making decisions on key areas such as education and health – and, equally, you will agree that being part of the United Kingdom delivers real benefits to our country. In short, you believe that we are Better Together with our friends, families and workmates from across the UK.
