Public Affairs Executive (Circa £27K)

THE Law Society of Scotland aims to lead and support a successful and respected Scottish legal profession. Not only do we act in the interests of our solicitor members, but we also have a clear responsibility to work in the public interest, playing a key role in the regulation of solicitors and actively engaging in public policy issues.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our communications team to help strengthen the relationship between the Society and our key stakeholders. The public affairs manager will play a critical role in improving the understanding and appreciation of our organisation, with a particular focus on our role as a regulator and our other public interest work. They will also be part the staff work working to deliver our engagement strategy relating to Scotland’s constitutional future and the referendum on Scottish independence.

We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic and committed individual with excellent communications skills and a keen interest in public policy issues. They will have two-to-three years’ experience of public affairs or communications, either through academic study or direct work experience and will have an ability to distil often complicated material into simple and effective messages. They will work closely with the director of communications as well as the Society’s chief executive and office bearers.
