Media Job: Strategic communications manager: Care Inspectorate

CLOSING DATE: October 9, 2014

DUE to the promotion of the previous post holder, we are recruiting a very experienced communications professional for the Care Inspectorate. We are looking for someone used to operating at a very senior communications level.

You may already be in a managerial role and will be used to managing staff and budgets or be ready to step into that role after some years’ experience. You will play a key role in ensuring people know about our inspection findings and the work we do to help care and social work reach the highest standards. You will be used to working in or with the public sector and will have extensive experience of both media and non-media communications work.

You will be an outstanding communicator, as comfortable writing and publishing a thematic report as dealing with media enquiries about a high-profile regulatory action. You will have had some interaction with government communications in the past. You will be able to write and present reports to an Executive Team and advise a Board on strategic communications.

The Care Inspectorate regulates 15,000 care services in Scotland and carries out joint inspections with other scrutiny bodies to see how well services are provided in different local areas. We help social work services, including criminal justice social work services, reach the highest standards. It would be ideal if you have some knowledge of social work, care, education, health or policing – but for the right candidate it certainly isn’t essential.

If you think you meet criteria and would like to speak informally about the post, please call Rami Okasha, head of Quality and Improvement, on 01382 207108.
