Media Job: Senior reporter: Tweeddale Press Group

CLOSING DATE: November 7, 2014

THE Tweeddale Press Group has an opening for a full-time senior reporter in our Selkirk office.

The successful candidate will play a key part in developing The Southern Reporter and Selkirk Weekend Advertiser in print and digital formats, and should have experience of covering a wide range of news and sports stories, as well as the ability to bring in off-diary stories.

You must be able to work under pressure and to deadlines, while at the same time producing bright and accurate copy. You also need to have a ‘can-do’ attitude, and be able to work under your own initiative, as well as part of a small team.

Knowledge of Scots law and the Scottish local government system is essential. Due to the nature of the job, some flexibility in working hours will be required.

Because the internet and social media are major parts of Tweeddale Press’s newspapers, experience in dealing with online news, Facebook and Twitter would be an advantage, but training will be given where necessary.

Video also plays a key part in the news gathering operation of our titles and you will be required to regularly film and contribute short items for our websites. Experience would be an advantage, but training will be given as necessary.

The successful candidate must also hold a clean driving licence.

Closing date: November 7, 2014
