Media Job: Communications officer: Scottish Legal Aid Board

CLOSING DATE: November 23, 2014

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Central Edinburgh

£22,500 – £26,570

THE Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB) is looking for a communications officer to support our internal and external communication strategy, by delivering a wide range of communications activities.

As part of our on-going strategy to improve SLAB’s communications, you would provide internal communications, as well as delivering high quality effective communications for specific key audiences and projects. You would help develop and establish strategies; contribute to the planning, development and management of the delivery of digital communications activity, including management of SLAB’s website; and produce and design documents. You would also assist in dealing effectively with media enquiries.

Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in a marketing / PR / journalism subject or equivalent professional qualification, you must have excellent organisational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to get things done.

You should be able to handle difficult and complex communications; and to understand complex issues quickly, explain them succinctly and often under pressure.

Adaptability to rapidly changing requirements and the ability to meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy would also be crucial requirements.

However, it would be of additional benefit if you had knowledge of the Scottish legal or advice sector and legal language; public sector and Scottish political environment; and/or tendering and managing contracts with suppliers.

In return we offer a varied and stimulating programme of work, with a benefits package which includes a competitive holiday entitlement and a six per cent contributory defined benefit pension scheme.

Visit here, for further information and to apply online. For assistance, email recruitment@slab.org.uk, or phone 0131 240 2027.

Completed applications should be returned by 23 November 2014.
