AFTER the great success and the nomination at the Total Theatre Awards at the last Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Made In Ilva, the Italian physical theatre masterpiece, will be back to Scotland.

Made in Ilva is directed by Anna Dora Dorno, performed by Nicola Pianzola, and features original music composed by Riccardo Nanni.

The innovative form taken by Made in Ilva has been developed over ten years by experimental theatre pioneer, Instabili Vaganti.

The performance has received numerous awards such as the nomination at the Total Theatre Awards at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the 16th IIFUT Best International Show Award in Iran, the Cassino OFF and the Landieri Civil Commitment Theatre Award, the Ermo Colle Critics’ Award, the 12th Museo Cervi Award and the OffX3 Residency Prize at Theatre Spazio OFF.

Made in Ilva is at Eden Court Theatre in Inverness on Friday 29th May 2015.

Instabili Vaganti – Experimental Theatre

Founded in 2004 in Bologna, Italy, by Anna Dora Dorno and Nicola Pianzola.

A ‘total theatre’ in which the performer’s body and voice skills are the main channels to express feelings, emotions and truths.

Instabili Vaganti has produced several performances, including the first co-production Italy-Korea for the BIPAF Busan Performing Arts Festival, a co-production with the Bauhaus Foundation of Dessau, the world touring show Rags of Memory, the performance Lenz – The Goethe’s Monkey premiered at the International Shakespeare festival in Armenia, and the multi-award winning show MADE IN ILVA.

The research projects of Instabili Vaganti have been developed across Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Asia and Central America, involving performers and artists coming from all over the world.

Furthermore, Anna Dora Dorno and Nicola Pianzola have developed a pedagogical work on the performer’s techniques, creating a method valued and requested in many international universities and theatre research institutes.

Anna Dora Dorno

An actress, director and theatre pedagogue. She was born in 1976 in Taranto, Italy. She graduated at the University of Bologna – Department of music and performance, she graduated with an acting degree at the Academy of Dramatic and Visual Arts. She took part in Santarcangelo Festival educational programme where she got a special degree in physical and experimental theatre, studying several disciplines, including Commedia dell’arte.

She has created and directed the international theatre research projects Rags of Memory and MEGALOPOLIS, leading work sessions with multinational professional performers in different countries in Europe as well as in South Korea, Mexico, Armenia and Tunisia.

She won the special award of the Jury at the VI° International Festival of Theatre and Visual Arts Zdarzenia in Poland for the direction of the performance Avan – Lulu, the ‘Ermo Colle’ Critics’ Award and the ‘Museo Cervi’ Award with the show MADE IN ILVA.

She performed in her solo piece Ausencia at the Fadjr International Festival in Iran. She is currently the artistic director of LIV Performing Arts Centre.

Nicola Pianzola

A performer and a theatre pedagogue. He was born in 1977 in Novara, Italy.

He graduated at the University of Bologna – Department of Music and Performance and he got a Nouveau Cirque degree at the Theatre Academy of Bologna.

His artistic training and education in physical theatre took shape whilst working in Poland at the Grotowski Institute of Wroclaw. He is currently actor in all the productions of Instabili Vaganti and training director in the international theatre research projects led by the company all over the world.

He won the DAMS Award, a special prize of the University of Bologna for his work with actors with disabilities. He is currently the artistic director of Performazioni International workshop festival.

About Eden Court

  • Eden Court is the largest multi-arts venue in Scotland. It re-opened in November 2007 following an extensive redevelopment programme, which saw the addition of two, purpose-built cinemas, a brand new flexible second theatre space and two dance and education studios.
  • Eden Court is the only theatre in Scotland to offer Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) courses in Drama and Dance. These are extracurricular courses, which offer pupils from across Highland the opportunity to study at Eden Court for an SQA Higher Dance, Drama or Intermediate 2 exams. Aside from Eden Court, there is only one school in the Highlands where pupils can sit SQA Higher Drama exams.
