A LEADING North-east apprentice training organisation, with a long and established partnership with one of the region’s top engineering companies, provides practical training and assessment in craft, technical and business modern apprenticeships.

ITCA Training, based at the Kirkhill Industrial Estate at Dyce, has been working with Turriff-based ACE Winches since 1997 providing modern apprenticeship training towards vocational qualifications.

At ITCA, craft and technical apprentices complete their Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Level 3 whilst business modern apprentices complete SVQ Level 4 and the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) certification.

The first ACE business modern apprentice to study with ITCA was Jacqueline Henderson, who completed her modern apprenticeship in 2003 and went on to complete a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 4.

With over 15 years’ experience and knowledge of the company, Jacqueline remains a valued employee working as an executive assistant for the CEO of ACE Winches.

Seventeen year-old Erin McGregor, from Cullen in Moray, is ACE Winches’ youngest apprentice and works in the company’s human resource department.

Erin said: “I started work with ACE Winches in March 2014 and am working towards my ECDL and SVQ Level 3 in Business Administration. Being able to work and learn on the job whilst achieving qualifications is immensely rewarding and the scheme allows me to progress my career within HR.”

Managing director of ITCA, June Jones, said: “ITCA has 57 apprentices from ACE Winches across different disciplines who are keen to learn and enhance their skills and knowledge. ACE students are always extremely hard working and a credit to their employer.

“We are very proud to facilitate the delivery of modern apprenticeships and help young people earn the qualifications they need to progress.”

Shirley Butcher, HR manager of ACE Winches, added: “We have always been impressed by the quality of training our employees receive from ITCA.

“We recruit top talent for our modern apprenticeship scheme and in return want to ensure they receive the best learning experience available both internally and externally.”

ITCA Training, established in 1989, is one of the largest engineering apprenticeship-training firms in Scotland.

The facility, which spans almost 22,000sq feet, includes offices, classrooms, a storage yard, and workshop space.

The company provides training for young employees in sectors including, welding, fabrication, mechanical engineering, business administration and logistics.
