EDEN Court CREATIVE is delighted to announce James Pett as our CREATIVE Ambassador for Dance.
Now a professional dancer with Wayne McGregor | Random Dance Company, James began his dance training at Eden Court, studying the SQA Higher Dance course in 2007/8; having moved to Dingwall at the age of eight, he’d had very little opportunity to dance up until that point.
After studying at Eden Court, James then went on to train in London at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, supported by a scholarship from the Duncraig Trust, administered by the Highland Council, which recognises and supports emerging talent in the performing arts.
James achieved a first class BA(Hons) in Dance Theatre, and received the Marion North Award for Outstanding Achievement in Performance.
With Wayne McGregor | Random Dance Company, James has performed across Europe, Asia and in the USA, including performances at New York Fashion Week and at the Brits Award ceremony, with Paloma Faith, this year.
James is very passionate about promoting the arts and high quality dance in the highlands:
He said: “I want to bring my experience and journey to inspire the next generation. Eden Court CREATIVE works across the Highlands, connecting with young people through theatre arts.
“I began my journey at Eden Court and hope my support will encourage more young people to get involved.”
Eden Court CREATIVE dance artist, Louise Marshall, said: “It’s a real pleasure to have James as our CREATIVE Ambassador for Dance. He has a genuine desire to inspire young people in the Highlands, and his classes are fantastic; he is a very generous and encouraging teacher.”
James will be teaching contemporary dance masterclasses for teenagers and adults at Eden Court on 14-16 July.
