Media Release: Comedian, Stuart Goldsmith’s exploits, sexploits and textploits in Glasgow

Stuart Goldsmith

STUART Goldsmith, internationally recognised for original, striking stand-up comedy, is taking time out from his Edinburgh Fringe duties to entertain Glasgow as he headlines Gilded Balloon Comedy at Drygate on Friday 14 August 2015.

Stuart’s infectious and enthusiastic banter combines spanking punchlines with the effortless charisma, disarming honesty and quick-fire timing he honed over a misspent youth as a street-entertainer.

Being disarmingly candid about his exploits, sexploits and textploits, Goldsmith moves effortlessly from one topic into the next sculpting deft vignettes about such diverse subjects as love and romance, life as a lonely comedian and the downside of getting what you want.

Stuart Goldsmith is an immediately likeable and energetic performer. He is not only a well-oiled machine and a dab hand with an one-liner, he is also an internationally award-winning comedian, with a reputation for smart, accessible stand-up.

Goldsmith’s always insightful and often inspiring ‘The Comedian’s Comedian’ podcast shines a light on the darkest creative secrets of his fellow comics, and is much beloved by comedy fans, performers and industry alike.

“A supremely talented stand-up, with a wonderfully funny view of the world and an effortless charm.” Time Out

Goldsmith will be joined on the Drygate stage by Irish comic Jarlath Regan and Fin Taylor, who has established himself as a unique voice in the up-and-coming generation of new UK comics. The evening will be compered by the superbly likeable comedian, Scott Agnew.

Originally from Kildare, Jarlath Regan has gained a reputation for his uplifting, inventive and relentlessly funny stand-up. His original brand of observational humour (and twisted greeting cards) have made him a firm favourite in all the top clubs on the UK comedy circuit and his award-winning ‘An Irishman Abroad’ podcast, where he interviews some of Ireland’s most famous exports, has won him universal acclaim and a global audience.

24 year-old Fin Taylor is one of the UK’s most precocious stand-up talents.

Enemy of the self-righteous! Conqueror of pretension! Champion of profanity – Taylor is a feckless wastrel with a fine sense of languid timing, naturally comic storytelling and underplayed emphasis that gets the best out of his punchlines.

Fin Taylor has supported Glenn Wool and Russell Howard on tour, as well as warming up for BBC ONE’s ‘Pointless’ and for BBC2’s ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’.

As compere for the evening, 6’5” Glaswegian powerhouse Scott Agnew’s easy-going, laid back delivery and friendly approach to stand-up will lull his audience into a false sense of security before he spins yarns of general misadventure that will both shock and have them laughing uncontrollably.

“Relaxed and adaptable, Scott Agnew is a consummately entertaining storyteller with a devilish eye for the absurd detail. Kind of a genius.” – The List
