AN Aberdeen-based independent lingerie boutique is getting set to host a special fitting day to raise money for charity during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

De-Zire, which was launched in 2008 by North-east business woman and ‘lingerie Queen’ Susan Evans, is inviting women to its Thistle Street store on Saturday 24 October, to help raise funds for its chosen charity, CoppaFeel!

Says a spokesperson: “Every year, nearly 55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK, and breast cancer charity, CoppaFeel!, was established to educate and remind young people about the importance of checking themselves – instilling a healthy habit that could one day save their life.”

During the special fitting day, Ms Evans who is a qualified bra fitter, will be on hand to fit women for bras to suit their shape and size, and educate customers about the benefits of wearing correctly fitting underwear. A representative from CoppaFeel! will also be giving guidance on how to check for signs of breast cancer.

As well as donating money from the fitting day, De-Zire is pledging to give 15 per cent of its takings made during Breast Cancer Awareness month to the charity.

Ms Evans, said: “While most women are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.

“Since opening the boutique I have been dedicated to changing the attitudes of women and young girls towards lingerie shopping, and I hope that the fitting days demonstrate the importance of women caring forthemselves, while raising money for such a worthy cause.”

Sophie Dopierala, CoppaFeel! health and education manager, said: “We are delighted to be involved with De Zire’s fitting day, as we find this is the perfect place to speak to women about breast cancer awareness.

“Young women are often unaware of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and have certainlynever been told to check their boobs before.

“Therefore, events like these are important to ensure we can open up the conversation and draw attention to the importance of looking after your pair.”

De-Zire is now one of the only independent lingerie shops in the city and the North-east of Scotland.

The shop stocks a range of quality and affordable lingerie brands covering cup sizes from A-H, including Maison Lejaby, Aubade, Prima Donna, Charnos, HOTmilk maternity and DKNY lounge sleepwear.
