Rob Bain - Managing Director - Copy

A LEADING developer of technology for the energy industry will travel to Abu Dhabi to share knowledge and expertise during a prestigious industry event this month.

Paradigm Flow Services’ managing director Rob Bain is to make the trip to the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) from November 9th to 12th where he will deliver two papers showcasing the company’s capabilities in its chosen marketplaces.

Rob Bain spent more than two decades working with Shell in operations, asset management and subsea engineering then worked as a subsea project manager with BG Group for two years before setting up Well Mack.

The latter was subsequently bought by Paradigm Group five years ago and grew into the organisation now known as Paradigm Flow Services.

During his time at the UAE event, Rob will deliver two papers which he has co-authored with Paradigm Flow Services’ technical director, Hugh Mackenzie, and business development technician, Callum Jones.

As part of a session looking at managing ageing facilities, Rob will focus on assisting extension of life for ageing assets with deluge system technology and will discuss the various systems used in this process, with particular reference to deluge systems and Paradigm Flow Services’ ground-breaking dry deluge testing technology, Dry-Flo.

Says a spokesperson: “Dry-Flo offers significant advantages over traditional wet testing methods including a reduction in the number of personnel required, faster set-up and job completion times, the elimination of the need to cover and protect electrical equipment, and the ability to be used for all hazardous zoned areas while the deluge system is live.

“In addition, Dry-Flo implementation reduces the risk of accidental shutdown due to seawater ingress therefore reducing potential impact on production.”

Rob’s second paper will feature during a session on the management of safety critical barriers and will use a major UKCS operator as a case study to show how companies can preserve safety critical systems, even on fields which are operating past their original design life.

Commenting on plans for his trip to ADIPEC, Rob Bain said: “Cost-effective solutions such as ours are proving to be popular in all of our chosen marketplaces and we look forward to sharing our innovative, efficient and effective solutions with fellow delegates at this important event.”
