RUFUS Logan, director with Building Research Establishment (BRE), is set to address delegates at this week’s Scotland Build Conference.

Says a spokesperson: “The conference will bring together leading contractors, developers, planners, engineers, architects from across the country to discuss the latest investment opportunities, developments plans and mile stones for construction in Scotland and the UK.”

On Wednesday 25 November, Mr Logan will showcase innovation in construction and offer an update on the work of BRE, the independent research, knowledge and advice organisation for the built environment sector and beyond.

As part of his address, Mr Logan will offer an insight into the exemplar research projects undertaken by his team and the advances being made at the BRE Innovation Parks across the globe, which include the recent launch of the BRE RetrofitLab App.

The information contained within the App is the most up to date in the market and was captured as a result of ongoing testing and monitoring by the BRE team of the ‘Refurbished House’ at its Innovation Park in Ravenscraig.

The building is a recreation of the ‘four in a block’ and demonstrates a range of innovative ‘retrofit solutions’ for this house type, which is currently amongst the most energy inefficient homes in the country.

Rufus Logan comments: “At BRE, we combine science and technology with innovation and entrepreneurship to develop solutions for existing and future buildings not only in Scotland, but across the UK and around the world.

“In addressing the Scottish construction industry’s key players, I hope that the demonstration of tangible results like the app, will inspire them to consider the future in a positive and perhaps even more ambitious way.”
