TWO prestigious speakers have been secured for the flagship event of the Aberdeen, Highlands & Islands branch of the Energy Institute (EI).

The organisation’s annual black tie dinner is held on 25 February 2016 and is widely regarded as one of the industry’s premier events in North-east Scotland.

This year’s event will be held at Aberdeen’s Marcliffe Hotel with another sell-out anticipated.

The popular annual gathering regularly attracts exceptionally high-profile delegates and speakers, and this year is set to be no exception with guests set to hear from the recently-appointed CEO of ENGIE E&P International, Maria Moræus Hanssen, and Mike Wagstaff, chair of North Sea Midstream Partners (NSMP) and the former CEO of Venture Production.

Commenting on plans for the event, branch chair, Nigel Bradburn FEI, says: “Our celebratory annual dinner has become a cornerstone of the local business calendar and, yet again, we have been able to attract two major industry figureheads to travel to Aberdeen to address our audience.

“We anticipate another excellent turnout with the profits from the evening being reinvested back in to our long-standing charitable objectives. We are very grateful for the level of support from the industry to enable the EI to meet these commitments.

“Maria will be making her first UK public speaking engagement since her recent appointment overseeing ENGIE’s (former GDF Suez) global E&P operations.

“After a long absence, we are also delighted to welcome back to Aberdeen Mike Wagstaff as NSMP acquire the St Fergus terminal and pipelines and establish their operational presence in the city.

“Both organisations are growing entities in the UKCS and will have a significant and long-term impact on Aberdeen and the local energy sector. We are really looking forward to Maria and Mike sharing their insights into current topics and trends in the industry.”

Guest speaker, Maria Moræus Hanssen, says: “I am delighted to accept the Energy Institute’s kind invitation to join their renowned annual dinner. In my new role, as the CEO of ENGIE E&P International, I will be a regular visitor to the city and our new offices on North Esplanade West. It is an exciting time to be joining the company to take on the challenges the oil and gas industry is facing right now.

“I am looking forward to this new assignment and talking to the Energy Institute audience regarding ENGIE’s operations in the North Sea, especially the Cygnus development, one of the most significant undeveloped gas fields in the UK Continental Shelf.”

Fellow guest speaker, Mike Wagstaff, adds: “Both myself and NSMP were pleasantly surprised and thrilled to receive the Energy Institute invitation to speak at their annual dinner.

“I have many fond memories of Aberdeen and am acutely aware of the prestige in which the EI dinner is held – it is an honour to address such a knowledgeable gathering.

“I am really looking forward to renewing many business acquaintances and telling the audience about our plans for NSMP as well as reflecting on my days at Venture and the challenges facing the province and sector moving forward.”
