KNOCKHILL Racing Circuit will once again reverberate with the sound of motorsport engines being tested to their limits this weekend (Sunday April 3), as the annual season opening Scottish Championship car racing event takes place – which symbolises the start of the motor racing season at Knockhill.

A full-on race day will see up to 120 competitors vie on track in various Championship classes, including Formula Ford, Mini, BMW, Sports & Saloons, Legends, Fiestas and Classics; throughout the 18-race schedule

Action starts on Sunday morning – with practice/qualifying – before the serious door-to-door racing commences (approx. 10:40am).

There’s always plenty of action on offer, on and off track; with restaurants, ample spectator areas, play park, karting (subject to availability) and countless machines lining the inclusive paddock for fans to get a real close-up view of the cars and drivers they’ll see out on track racing for Championship glory.

Knockhill events director, Stuart Gray, commented: “We’re all very eager to get the motorsports season underway and what better way than to start with a bumper Scottish Championship race event. Knockhill always provides great action and with 18 races taking place on the day, the action will be fast and frantic.

“Aside from Scottish Championship glory, the 2016 Formula Ford championship has a special prize on offer for the overall winner.

“The opportunity to participate in a ‘Road to Indy’ shoot-out and earn a £200,000 scholarship into the American USF2000 Championship, the first rung on the Mazda Road to Indy development ladder.”

Action kicks off on Sunday (April 3) around 8:40am with practice/qualifying sessions.

Afterwards, the first racing action of the day will take place at approximately 10:40am; with the day drawing to a close at approximately 17:30pm.

SMRC race days are great value for money with eight hours of fast and furious action that will keep race fans enthralled from start to finish.

An adult ticket costs just £12 if bought in advance (midnight Saturday April 2 via the Knockhill Website) or £15 at the gate.

See the SMRC event webpage for further info and ticket pricing.
