A LEADING North-east surface preparation and protective coatings company has been awarded another internationally-recognised certification for its commitment to health and safety in its sector.

Davidsons Blast Services (DBS) – which provides blast cleaning and application of protective coatings to the oil and gas, marine and subsea industries – has successfully achieved OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health & Safety Management accreditation.

The family firm secured the certification following a comprehensive audit by ABS-QE, which assessed DBS’ health and safety policies and procedures at its purpose built blasting and painting facility in Peterhead, in the North-east of Scotland.

OHSAS 18001 demonstrates DBS’ ability to reduce the risks of accidents at its facility, as well as reduce any breach in legal health and safety requirements, with each member of staff dedicated to identifying and managing health and safety risks as part of their daily operations.

The firm also previously secured its ISO 14001 Environmental Systems certification in 2015 and ISO 9001 Quality Management certification in 2011, and obtained its latest internationally recognised certification in only sixmonths.

Bruce Davidson, managing director for DBS, said: “Successfully achieving our third internationally-recognised standard is a major milestone for DBS and reflects the hard work and dedication we put into maintaining the high quality standards we have here at our facility.

“With our strict health and safety procedures in place, we are able to achieve the best possible working conditions for our employees, making it a safer working environment for our staff to complete jobs in an efficient and safe manner.

“This continual improvement process supports the excellent service we provide our customers, as we continue to operate at an internationally-recognised level throughout all of our services.”
