ON Monday 9 May 2016, the first pilot of a new online care management tool was launched in NHS Lothian to trial the software for people living with dementia in partnership with Alzheimer’s Scotland.

Fife company, Planys Mobile, has developed the ClickGo software with charity, Carr Comm, so that care managers can co-ordinate care arrangements.

Carers can dynamically interact online to ensure user’s needs are being met.

Planys Mobile, a private sector technology company has co-invested in the ClickGo joint venture with social care charity, Carr Gomm.

ClickGo won a special commendation in The Herald Digital Business Awards at the end of 2015 and was one of ten UK finalists in the Google Impact Challenge Awards 2014.

The software company also plans to extend the system to families managing care arrangements prior to them entering the formal social care system.

Steven Wexelstein, co-owner of Planys Mobile, said: “This web and mobile app could revolutionise care management for anyone with care needs, so we are keen to hear the feedback on how it performs during this study involving people living with dementia and their families.

“Planys Mobile is a commercial company that has invested in this service in partnership with a charity, Carr Gomm. It’s a brilliant example of the private sector committing resources and working with a charity to bring innovation to care provision”.

Andrew Thomson, head of business development at Carr Comm, said: “ClickGo is designed to make the ambitions of Self-Directed Support a reality for everyone who uses social care services.

“It’s about giving each individual more choice and control on a day-to-day basis, and empowering them through access to real-time information, so they can make the decisions that are right for them.”

Dr Donald MacIntyre, NHS Research Scotland fellow at the University of Edinburgh, said: ”We are very excited to be independently evaluating this novel technology, which could be used by people living with long term conditions across the country.

“It has the potential to help people reduce their need for hospital or residential care.”
