EDINBURGH-based editor, Rosie Howie, is to attend an event at the House of Lords in London this week to collect a Print Futures Award for £1,500.

The awards and event are organised by The Printing Charity (https://www.theprintingcharity.org.uk/), whose patron is Her Majesty The Queen.

The Print Futures Awards were launched in 2003 to help people fund costs associated with a relevant training course in printing, publishing, packaging or graphic arts.

Rosie was interviewed in London in June and is set to attend the prestigious special event at the House of Lords tomorrow (19th July).

Rosie attended school in the city and returned to commence an MSc in Publishing at Edinburgh Napier University in 2011.

She has worked at the award-winning independent educational publisher, Bright Red Publishing, since graduating in 2012 and has been instrumental in developing a range of award-winning study guides and digital resources for the new Curriculum for Excellence.

She was also the co-chair of the Society of Young Publishers Scotland from 2014 to 2016.

Rosie plans to use her award to pay for an industry standard, four-day training course in The Publishing Training Centre in London and is incredibly excited about the award and the opportunity.

She commented: “I am thrilled to have won this award and to be getting to go to the House of Lords for the ceremony.

“It’s an amazing opportunity and the training course I have booked onto will help me realise my career goal of becoming a commissioning editor. Without this funding, it simply would not have been possible!”
