Media Release: North-east firm shining through for Gold Awards

Blaze-Ann and Howard Johnson

A LEADING provider of fire control and safety solutions has been shortlisted for a prestigious accolade due to its commitment to innovation in the North-east.

Blaze Manufacturing Solutions (Blaze), which was established in 2006 to serve the global oil and gas and renewables markets, has been announced a finalist in the Innovation category of The Press and Journal Gold Awards, due to take place at The Marcliffe Hotel on Thursday, 8 September.

The Laurencekirk-based company has been breaking through barriers to develop its revolutionary FlameShield 300™ Flexible piping system and has firmly positioned itself at the forefront of fire control technology.

The unique product offers the delivery of a jet fire resistant, blast resistant, corrosion resilient fire protection system with a 20-year design life, eliminating corrosion problems for the client during its lifetime operation. Flameshield 300™ can be installed in a hazardous area without hot working, allowing production to continue during construction, thereby saving on downtime.

The system is the only pipe solution that has total DNV approval and fully complies with the highest standards of fire safety for the offshore industry.

Now into its second year, The Press and Journal Gold Awards supports and celebrates the impact that the oil and gas industry has had on Aberdeen and the surrounding areas over the past 50 years.

The Innovation Award commends technology that has helped the North-east burst through barriers, positioning the region as a global pioneer in the oil and gas industry.

Blaze’s ground-breaking work in fire control and safety systems has enabled the company to work on a number of major North Sea projects in the Greenfield and Brownfield markets. The firm has an impressive track record of working in the oil and gas loss prevention industry, with a combined experience totalling over 400 years in the field on over 70 per cent of UKCS Installations.

Managing director of Blaze Manufacturing Solutions, Howard Johnson, said: “Here at Blaze we are constantly developing enhancements to our safety and installation techniques. We are very proud to be nominated for the Innovation Award as we have a dedicated team that are willing to push the boundaries, and in doing so, push the industry forward. The FlameShield 300™ has helped to revolutionise the oil and gas sector by significantly reducing lifetime and installation costs, improving safety, and minimising the need for maintenance intervention.”
