AYRSHIRE College recently welcomed Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP, Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science, to the new £53m campus in Hill Street in Kilmarnock ahead of its opening in October.

Ms Somerville was shown around the building by college principal, Heather Dunk, and saw state-of-the-art teaching spaces in curriculum areas like Health and social care; Engineering, trades and automotive; Hair, beauty and complementary therapies; and Sport and fitness.

The Minister also had a preview of some of the facilities which will be open to the general public, including the ‘Salt & Barrel’ restaurant, the ‘Still Room’ café and the hair and beauty salon, ‘You’.

Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science, Shirley-Anne Somerville, said: “I was delighted to have a preview of the new Ayrshire College campus building in Kilmarnock ahead of its opening in October.

“The facilities that will be on offer to students attending this new campus are truly exceptional, and I’m sure that students starting courses this week at the existing campus in Kilmarnock will be very excited about the move to this spectacular building.”

Ayrshire College students at the existing Kilmarnock campus in Holehouse Road are set to move into the new campus in Hill Street on 24 October.
