A MORAY charity is holding two events this autumn to raise funds for sensory impaired people in the North-east.

North East Sensory Services (NESS) which supports people who are blind and deaf has an office in Elgin, which offers practical support as well as social clubs and groups for young people as well as elderly service users.

A charity golf day on Saturday 1st October kicks off the busy autumn events calendar for the charity, with a Texas scramble at Cullen Golf Course.

Tee times commence at 8am, with bacon rolls and coffee and tea to start golfers off, followed by soup and sandwiches for tired sportsmen or ladies after their round.

Golfers can book at https://www.brsgolf.com/cullen/opens_home.php.

A Ladies Fizzy Pamper Day at the Eight Acres Hotel and Leisure Club in Elgin on Sunday 9th October is sure to interest local women.

Beauty treatments are available all day, including head, back and shoulder message, pedicures and manicures, with a delicious afternoon tea served with a complimentary glass of fizz. Guests have full use of the hotel‘s leisure facility all day, and tickets are just £30 per person. To book, contact NESS at 0345 27 12345.

Finally, a quiz night is taking place at Elgin City Football club on 18th November. Teams are priced at £25 for five people per team.

The events will raise money to enable NESS Moray to continue to offer life-enhancing support to people living with a hearing or sight loss.

The charity has a resource centre at Elizabeth House, Victoria Crescent, where people can access talking watches, vibrating alarms and clocks as well as other assistive devices to help with everyday life.

NESS also holds regular IT demonstrations to help clients use magnification software for reading letters as well get comfortable with smartphones for keeping in touch with friends and family. The charity also holds regular coffee mornings and social activities to help those with sight or hearing loss.

Fundraising assistant, Bruce Cruickshank, said: “The Golf Day and Ladies’ Fizzy Pamper Day are set to be great fun. From sending out audio books to holding lip reading classes, NESS is a vital local service and we are always delighted with the support that we receive from local people.”
