Primestaff gains Edinburgh presence and makes five key hires in ambitious expansion

GLASGOW-based recruitment consultancy, Primestaff, has made significant moves to drive the company towards its target turnover of £20 million by 2020.

The board has identified opportunities in the Edinburgh market and has subsequently opened an office in the capital, while expansion in Dundee is imminent.

It’s been a big year for the company, which was recently acquired in a management buyout and launched a high-profile sponsorship with one of only two Scottish professional rugby sides, Glasgow Warriors.

Turnover exceeded £11 million and profit surpassed £2 million in 2015-2016 – making it the company’s biggest year ever. To support this ambitious plan, five new hires are set to play a key part in Primestaff’s continued growth.

Technical business manager, Derek Thomson, will work across Edinburgh and Glasgow after spending more than 15 years at a leading national agency, which recently closed its Glasgow office.

His colleague, Matthew Bowater, a recruitment consultant, has also been snapped up by the firm.

Robert Muir, formerly of Bibby Factors, has taken on the role of group business development director, while recruitment consultants, Leigh Carroll and Stephen Johnston, have joined subsidiary operations, Black & Black Recruitment and Prime Commercial Ltd, respectively.

Chief executive, Danny McIntyre, said: “This is an exciting time for our business. There’s a great deal of opportunity across Scotland and we have a talented group in place ready to take Primestaff to the next level.

“Hiring the right people has always been central to our growth and by continuing to grow our team with talented staff, it will help us to adapt to challenges and take advantage of opportunities in the marketplace.“

Group business development director, Robert Muir, added: “While at Bibby Factors, I worked closely with Primestaff for many years. I have always been impressed with their approach and have watched with interest as the company has grown. I couldn’t be more pleased to join the team and help the company take the next step.

“With some rival agencies moving out of Glasgow, and with Edinburgh as an area of growth, I’m excited to work across both cities to create and unearth new opportunities.”

Primestaff’s offices are currently in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Paisley.

Primestaff currently work with a diverse range of clients supplying all levels of commercial, industrial, construction, technical, hospitality and events staff.

Its subsidiary, Black & Black, operates in the social care and housing sectors.
