THE Scottish Sun’s Xmas Radio station is now live, on air, with festive hits now playing 24 hours a day.

Listeners will be able to tune in on DAB to hear the best festive tunes to help them countdown to Christmas, broadcasting from midday on November 21 until midnight on December 27.

The station is available on digital radio in Central Scotland and Aberdeenshire by searching Sun Xmas. To get it online, listeners from across the UK can access it at http://scottishsunchristmasradio.co.uk.

Listeners will have the chance to win cash and hear details about how to donate to charities The Scottish Sun is supporting this Christmas, including cancer charity, Rainbow Valley, and motor neurone disease charity, MND Scotland.

This is the latest newspaper-radio collaboration between News UK and Wireless Group since the media group was acquired in September.

Other notable projects between Wireless Group and News UK include ‘Better Call Paul’, which sees talkRADIO’s breakfast show hosted by Paul Ross promoted in The Sun and people encouraged to call in about a hot topic each day.

Dream Team, talkSPORT and Sun Football now share social content, and Wireless Group station Signal Radio will soon launch a Sun Bingo promotion.

Terry Underhill — group programme director for the local stations at Wireless Group — said: “We want to sprinkle some Christmas magic across Scotland and The Scottish Sun will be providing the soundtrack for the 2016 festive season.

“What better way to celebrate Christmas than through the great, classic Christmas songs of all time? Even if you are heading to work and stuck in a traffic jam, you can instantly feel festive by turning on The Scottish Sun Christmas station.”

And some celebrities will be popping up to deliver their seasonal wishes to fans.

Underhill said: “We’ll have messages and stories from some of the music world’s biggest acts. Robbie Williams and Little Mix are just a few of the stars you’ll be hearing from.”

Alan Muir, The Scottish Sun editor, said “Now you can listen to the Scottish Sun while you’re reading either the paper or online. And you can help two very special charities as well. Forget Santa – we’re Sunta!”
